All Funmatches, Playdays, and
Distance/Accuracy Clinics are open to non-members for as many times as
they want to come (For people who are members of other Frisbee Dog Clubs,
they are asked to limit attending two of the above club activities and
then asked to make a decision on club membership). Club parties, meetings
and Exhibitions are for members Only.
Playdays:
A Playday is typically the second Saturday of every month. This is a time
when the Club comes together for practice and socialization. Playdays are
open to everyone. This is a great opportunity for non-members to come and
meet the club and find out more information about the club and Canine
Frisbee in general. For members, this is a time to come out and practice
their skills along with getting tips and tricks from other members. This
is also a good time to strengthen your skills of performing in front
of a crowd. Even if you feel as though you are not ready to perform in
front of a crowd, Playdays are a good place for you and your dog to
socialize. Be sure to bring water for your dogs, a leash, a crate
to hold them while you are working with other members, a chair for you and
maybe a shade canopy for those hot days.
Contests:
At this time, all divisions of all contests are FREE. Just sign up and you
can compete with your dog. It is your determination as to which division
you would like to compete in. Below are the typical layouts of the
different
divisions for the different sponsored events.
DDDC sponsored Local
Events:
Beginner:
This division is designed for the Canine Frisbee beginner. This class
consists of two rounds of Distance Accuracy, which is a 60 second
throw-and-catch session of a minimum of 10 yards. There is no FreeStyle for
this division.
Advanced:
This division is designed for contestants that have a FreeStyle routine,
which is a 90 second routine of tricks choreographed by music, but not at
the level that will be performing in the Pro Division. You will have
one round of FreeStyle and then one round of Distance Accuracy.
Pro:
This division is designed for the advanced contestants. This division will
typically have contestants with specific FreeStyle routines. This is the
highest level of competition so this is the division that will
include past, present and future World Finalists and World
Champions.
Skyhoundz Regional Events:
Sport Division:
This division is the same as the Beginner division at our local events. All
participants will compete in the first round and the top six competitors of
the first round will compete in the second round.
Open Division:
This division is the same as the Pro division at our local events. The only
difference is that your FreeStyle score is doubled before it is added to
your Distance Accuracy score.
For more detailed information, visit
the official Skyhoundz web
site.
Contest Music:
When you enter in a contest, you can either supply your own music or the
Club will provide something for you. If you provide your own music, bring it
to the DJ booth before your performance.
Exhibitions:
The DDD Club does Frisbee Exhibitions on a
regular basis. These are open to all DDD Club members. We encourage you to
attend the Exhibitions and perform with your dog. Again, this is a great
time to work on your skills in front of a crowd.
Fun Match:
This is a mock contest. A Fun Match is usually held in place of a
Playday and is used as practice for a Local Contest and/or Regional
Event. The format is the same as a DDD Local Contest with a Beginner,
Advanced and Pro division.
Distance Accuracy Clinics:
This is a time for Members and Non-Members to practice
Distance Accuracy. You can get good tips from World Finalists and
World Champions. Playdays are mainly focused on FreeStyle where
Distance Accuracy Clinics are mainly focused on practicing Distance
Accuracy.
Human Playdays:
This is a time for members of the DDD Club to meet without their dog(s) and
practice their frisbee throwing skills. Human Playdays are random and
not scheduled events.
