It's hard to believe that here we are in early May and the South-Central Regional has already passed. The good news is that we still have several competitions to look forward to including Tulsa, Coppell and Arlington.
"Expect the unexpected" seems to be only way to categorize our regional events these past few years. This year was certainly no exception. The unpredictability of our recent regional events seems to have started in '93 when a scoring mishap sent 3 DDD members to their very first World Finals. Then in '94 we had a complete unknown by the name of John Glennon show up from Kansas and shock us all with his outstanding World Finals qualifying performance. The following year, we were all reintroduced to a former club member Todd Stevenson when he came in from Mississippi. Again, many of us were left scratching heads, wondering
what happened as Todd earned his trip to that year's World Finals. In '96, Ron Ellis surprised many of us with his clinic on execution under miserably windy conditions. In 1997, normalcy seemed to make a brief return and left us with few surprises.
It seemed the only question on everyone's mind this year was who would be accompanying Bob and Luke to Washington for the '98 World Finals. Remarkably, or maybe by now I should say unremarkably, the unexpected returned with a gusto this year as we all watched with disbelief and
