Unfortunately with our Regional event coming so early our fun matches are somewhat abbreviated this year. By separating them into a mini-distance funmatch followed by a free-flight funmatch we are hoping to offer a more focused platform from which to improve all of our skills. Speaking of skills . . . if you're new to this wonderful sport and want some help don't hesitate to ask. At times it can be intimidating and presumptuous to assume that a visitor or new memberwants some help and instruction, but many of our members have years of experience and are more than willing to share what they know.

Our mini-distance fun match on the 28th of last month officially ushered in another year of competition.  Congratulations to Ron Doan and Jason Meeks. Spring time in Texas means wind and as expected and it seems we had more than our share at this our first competition of the year.

When it come to complaining about the wind I'm usually near the front of the line, but at the same time I can almost guarantee that the wind will blow at our regional competition and so I'll practice whenever possible under windy conditions. This wasn't always the case.

A few years ago in the spring of '95 I found a wonderfully sheltered section of a nearby park. I was about 60 yards long by 40 yards wide and sheltered from the wind on all four sides. For weeks I had some tremendous workouts in this sheltered enclave and left for the regional in Houston abundantly confident.  On the field that Saturday morning it felt as if I was standing in a wind tunnel with the wind gusting to 25 mph. My routine was set and so all I could do was try to make more controlled deliveries
