Happy New Year!
As I start my term as the new DDD President I find myself in completely uncharted territory, so as I was contemplating this first writing I pulled out all my old newsletters to kind of refresh my memory of where the club has been and get an idea of where we might be headed. My newsletters date all the way back to 1986, so I had quite a bit of reading to do.
As I was reading through that wrinkled and yellowing stack of old newsletters I tried to recall Ron's original idea. If my memory is
correct, it was to get together once a month, with a group of folks who enjoyed playing Frisbee with their dogs. These gatherings were intended to be lighthearted and informal gatherings where everyone could share in a common bond - our love for our dogs and our enjoyment of canine Frisbee. With the proliferation of dog and disc clubs across the country
it easy to forget what a unique and unheard of idea this was in 1986. Ron's vision, followed by his hard work, and the enthusiasm of countless members helped to chart, over the last 12 years, an unknown course. Through those years we have grown and matured into what is considered by many the finest dog and disc club in the country.
Along the way other clubs have tried to emulate our success and if it is true that imitation is the truest form of flattery then Ron and every other member, past and present, should indeed feel very proud. Based on past success its not difficult to anticipate that playdays will continue to be the primary vehicle for club
