A couple of Months ago, I asked Marilyn Evans if she could write an article for our newsletter.  After all, who better to write an article about traveling with your dog than our very own world travelers, Bob & Marilyn Evans.  Next month, Marilyn adds Air Travel and Lodging and Recreation.

When traveling with your dog, remember to plan ahead, and pack his/her ("his") little bag as well as your own.  Bring a leash.  Always have an ID tag on his collar with home phone #, veterinarian's phone #, city registration, and rabies vaccination.  And, it has been recommended that you attach a removable tag with the phone # of the location where you are currently staying, i.e. the hotel #, Aunt Sally's #, etc.  Most people travel with doggie crates or kennels (I prefer the term "houses").  There are also doggie seat belts on the market.  Bring enough food for the duration of the trip, including any supplements or medicines your pet takes regularly.  Bring water for the immediate trip, (some people buy bottled water, so not to take the chance that local water will upset his tummy).  Bring a food & water bowl.  Bring a favorite toy or "blankie" if you desire and, of course a Frisbee
Ò.  Bring his shampoo (fun sometimes means getting dirty) and the Flea & Tick Spray you regularly use.  Remember to check with your veterinarian to get a health certificate (valid for a ten-day period) which is required if flying and/or if traveling across state lines.  Also, ask about any necessary precautions to protect your pet from any diseases or pests known or suspected to be present in the visited area.  Discuss the need for a motion sickness tablet or a tranquilizer with your
