ALPO Arlington Local Event

We had a great turn out and beautiful weather for the ALPO Community event in Arlington, Texas.  It was held at the beautiful River Legacy Park.  The turf was good, the park employees extremely helpful and both water and restrooms were available close by.  Tom Werhli came down  from Naperville, Illinois to assist event coordinator, Ron Ellis, with judging.

We had several visitors from the Houston area and a few from out of state.  We had quite a few people attend that wanted to find out more about playing Frisbee with their dogs.  Hopefully they will get hooked and be back to visit again.

Chuck Middleton and Boss of Dallas came in first with a strong showing in Freeflight and Mini-Distance.  Christi Goodman and Wally of Houston answered the challenge with a great second place performance.  Jim Miears and Dexter, also of Dallas, came in third with a capable display of skill.

Rounding out the top six were Chuck Middleton's Flygirl, Christi Goodman's Rider (watch out for this newcomer in the future!) and Jim Miears' Tilly.  It was very unusual that of this many contestants that we would have three throwers finish that high with two dogs each.  Dallas club newcomer Paul West took 7th with Shadow and Jim Still, Dallas club VP, finished in 8th.  Prizes were given to the top six teams.

The annual occurrence of John Tobin's winning Best Small Dog with Tinker Bell was furthered this year.  They had a truly outstanding performance.  The highlight of the day was the awarding of Best Novice to Cynthia Calhoun and Air Dexter of Fayetteville, Arkansas.  They had a great showing for their first competition.
